(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Henry has scheduled a special election to fill the House seat of former state Representative Hopper Smith of Tulsa.

Smith resigned November 12th after his Army National Guard unit was deployed to Afghanistan. Smith is a lieutenant colonel in the Guard and commander of a battalion based at Stillwater.

The winner of the special election will serve the remaining year on Smith's two-year term representing District 67 in south Tulsa.

The primary will be January 13th and the general election will be February 24th. Filing for the seat will be December 8th, 9th and 10th.
