WASHINGTON (AP) _ A Wisconsin company is recalling 47,000 of its Nesco brand stainless steel deep fryers because they may pose a burn hazard to consumers.

The Metal Ware Corp. of Two Rivers has received eight reports of accidents involving the fryers, including one that caused minor burns that required medical attention, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The mesh filter in the cover of the fryer can allow moisture to build up in the oil reservoir, which can boil over during or shortly after use.

The recalled fryers have a black plastic top and handles on either side and have model numbers DF-250T, DF-1250T and DF-1250TL. The model numbers are printed on the back of the fryers.

The fryers were manufactured in China and were sold at discount department stores and retail Web sites between May 2001 and October 2003. They sold for about $55.

Consumers are urged to stop using the fryers immediately and contact the company for a free replacement kit and a complimentary gift package. The company can be called toll-free at 1-800-726-4457 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST.
