The patience of thousands of Oklahomans is being tested. They've been trying to register for the Safe Room Rebate Program, but instead of getting an operator, they're getting a busy signal.
Darrel Maxfield is among those who are frustrated. He got a busy signal all day Tuesday. Those operating the hotline say they're not surprised. They say a lot of people are interested in safe rooms and storm shelters.
Albert Ashwood with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says the agency is trying to keep administrative costs down by installing only 8 phone lines and using volunteer operators.
You have until October 31st to register. The number is 1-800-657-3090.
