Tyson Foods settles with EEOC over Holdenville plant incidents

(Muskogee-AP) -- Tyson Foods will pay $73,000 to two former employees in a settlement with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The commission filed a federal civil rights lawsuit saying Tyson's management at its Holdenville facility allowed a female co-worker to make sexually lewd and threatening comments to Keith Swaim, then fired him because he complained to Tyson's human resources department.
The commission also charged in its suit that Gena Bishop _ who witnessed the harassment _ was retaliated against because of her participation in the EEOC's investigation.
The Arkansas-based food production and distribution company will also provide training regarding sex discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation.
Tyson also agreed to post a notice in its Holdenville facility defining and prohibiting discrimination, informing employees of their rights and setting forth a procedure to report discrimination.
