Passage of the Vision 2025 plan is already paying off. American Airlines says the maintenance facility in Tulsa is safe from drastic cuts.

At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, airline officials said American will add work in Tulsa. Voters approved spending $22-million to improve the Tulsa facility. This is the airlines way of saying thank-you.

Carmine Romano, Vice President of Americanâ€™s Tulsa maintenance center, "I think right now, we can honestly say, that we are not going to close Tulsa. We're not going to close the Tulsa base and we're going to try to retain and grow and we will make a final decision on Kansas City in the next couple of weeks."

The new work at the Tulsa maintenance facility will not increase total employment at the base. But American says it will prevent a 330-worker layoff that was scheduled for November.
