The Tulsa County Club golf course itself has won rave reviews from the very beginning of the LPGA tournament. And now the area around the course is getting good reviews as well, thanks to the Hope 6 housing project.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says when you say the word Hope, it sounds like something that hasn't happened yet. But Hope 6 is now reality. A lot has changed in the past year, with the Hope 6 project.

"Currently we have approximately 325 units under construction, which covers all of the existing site the old site, the old Osage Hills site." The old Osage Hills apartments were one of the most troubled areas in town. A brand new row of townhouses in what they'll see from the 3rd fairway. "I think it's met everyone's expectations and I think it's exceeded mine personally."

Director Mike Horton says it's the biggest project by far that the Tulsa Housing Authority has ever done. Simply put, it doesn't look like public housing, and that's the whole idea. "We have attempted and I believe we've done a fairly decent job in matching the architectural design and functions of a typical market rate community and in some cases I think we've exceeded that."

The logic is that if you want to re-introduce people back into the regular community, it should look like a regular community. He thinks they've done that. "I think that anyone in Tulsa anyone walking up and down the golf course could look over and say, wow what a sight."

It certainly presents a much better image of Tulsa to people who've maybe never been here before. They expect the first residents to move in over the next couple of weeks.
