(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A record number of Americans are expected on the roads during the Labor Day holiday weekend, despite rising gas prices.

Chuck Mai with AAA Oklahoma says nearly 359,000 Oklahomans, nearly 10.5% of the population, are expected to travel during the weekend.

Gasoline prices have jumped this month as a blackout temporarily shut down some refineries and a broken pipeline caused shortages in Arizona.

The average price for self-serve unleaded in Oklahoma is just above $1.58 per gallon, an increase of three cents per gallon from Monday and up by more than 15 cents per gallon from last month.

The average price in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa is about $1.59 per gallon. That's up by about four cents a gallon from Monday and an increase of about 19 cents per gallon since last month.
