(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The price of license tags in Oklahoma goes up two dollars on Labor Day, a temporary increase to raise money for highway patrol troopers.
The $2 fee expires August 30th, 2005.
Lawmakers approved the increase last session to prevent furloughs of troopers and other public safety department personnel in the fiscal year that began July 1st.
Before the Legislature approved the increase, the Department of Public Safety was expecting to furlough troopers and other employees for 23 days.
The law will raise about $5-million in the fiscal year ending June 30th and more than $6-million next fiscal year.
