(Lincoln-AP) -- With the season opener against Oklahoma State coming up, the Nebraska football team plans to reduce contact in its second fall scrimmage Wednesday.
There probably will not be full contact in the scrimmage.
Cornhuskers coach Frank Solich said Tuesday that the team has gone through extremely physical practices the last two weeks. He says the players do not need to worry about being ready to take or deliver hits when Oklahoma State comes to town August 30th.
Defensive players probably will be required to stop short of bringing ball-carriers to the ground in the scrimmage.
Solich said it's time for players with bumps and bruises to start healing up.
He says he does not want to see a bunch of guys limping around when game week comes around.
