(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Aides to Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe say the Republican senator is safe and secure at an undisclosed military compound in Baghdad.
Aides were not immediately able to locate Inhofe after a car bomb exploded outside a Baghdad hotel Tuesday morning.
Aides now say Inhofe and members of the Iraqi governing council are at the compound.
At the time of the attack Inhofe was apparently with Donald Hamilton of the Oklahoma City National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism.
Inhofe is in Baghdad to tour the Baghdad Police Academy, Hamilton is there as part of a team helping rebuild the country.
Officials say Inhofe and Hamilton were between four and seven miles from the site of the car bombing.
