(Omaha-AP) -- Business conditions in Oklahoma and the nine-state Mid-America region in July are down.

A monthly survey of business leaders by Creighton economics professor Ernie Goss says the July index of leading economic indicators in the region is down from 57-point-three to 56.

The business index in Oklahoma fell from 67 in June to 45-point-six in July. The index measures job growth, the prices paid for goods and the number of new orders businesses receive for their products.

An index above 50 indicates an expanding economy while a number below 50 indicates the economy is contracting.

States included in the survey are Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
