(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A divided Department of Human Services Commission delayed the copayment increase for subsidized child care.
The group voted 3 to 2 to change the date of the increase from Friday to May 1st in an emergency meeting.
Department of Human Services Director Howard Hendrick says legislative leaders and Governor Brad Henry supports a delay to gain time to work out a permanent funding solution.
DHS says increasing demand and costs requires increasing copayments, which are based on family income and number of children.
The increase will affect about 16,000 families.
