(Oklahoma City-AP) -- AAA Oklahoma estimates nearly a half million Oklahomans will travel during the coming Memorial Day weekend.
AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says 485,000 state residents are expected to travel this weekend.
May says even with a sluggish economy, there seems to be a pent up demand for travel.
Mai also says the cost of gasoline in Oklahoma continues to rise, even while the price is falling nationwide.
The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gas is just more than a $1.45, up by more than 9-and-a-half cents per gallon in the past 11 days.
The average price in Oklahoma City is $1.44 per gallon, an increase of nearly 11 cents from eleven days ago. In Tulsa, the average is $1.43 per gallon, up by 14 cents from eleven days ago.
