(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Brad Henry has signed a $1.95-billion bill that would fund the state's public schools.
It's the first funding bill signed for the fiscal year that starts July 1st.
Henry says this bill is a momentous occasion. The bill contains nearly $80-million more than the current school budget after state wide budget cuts.
In Tulsa, state School Superintendent Sandy Garrett commended legislators for funding schools as much as they could.
The amount is still $91-million less than what schools were given a year ago.
