A jury found Shelton Jackson guilty of first-degree murder late Monday afternoon.

This is Jackson's second trial. He won a new trial after the appeals court ruled he had inadequate counsel the first time.

The jury convicted Jackson of murdering his 23-year-old girlfriend, Monica Decator and injuring her two-year-old son, Oz. Despite his confession to Tulsa Police, Jackson's defense in this trial was that he accidentally hurt Oz when the baby wouldn't stop crying. He also said he killed Decatur in self-defense when she got mad after learning about her son's injuries.

Prosecutors are asking for the death penalty, that phase of the trial will begin later this week.
