(Chicago-AP) -- Quaker Oats is recalling 23,000 cases of its cold cereal Quaker Oatmeal Brown Sugar Bliss.

The Chicago-based company says the cereal may contain almonds although that isn't noted on the boxes.

It says almonds may pose a risk to people who suffer life-threatening allergies or severe sensitivity to them.

The nationwide recall applies to 16-ounce boxes marked for use by the dates September 8th, September 9th and September 10th of 2003.

(Consumers possessing the cereal are advised to throw it away and return the box top with date information to Quaker Plaza Consumer Response, PO Box 049001, Suite 1317, Chicago, Illinois 60604-9001.)
