(Sallisaw-AP) -- Lawyers for an 18-year-old accused of killing two and wounding eight in an October shooting spree want the court to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.
Attorneys for Daniel Hawke Fears filed papers Tuesday arguing that Fears can't rationally consult with them about his defense and that he doesn't understand the legal proceedings against him.
The Sequoyah County District Attorney's office says a hearing has been scheduled to decide whether state psychologists should further examine Fears.
Fears faces two counts of first-degree murder and 16 other charges in connection with the October 28th shooting spree in and around Sallisaw. Fears is accused of shooting people after being chastised for reckless driving.
