The Oklahoma Blood Institute needs your help. It started the 007 program to encourage people with type O-negative blood to give, and give frequently.
That's because only 7 out of every 100 people have that blood type. And, since it's the universal donor, type-O negative is transfused three times faster than other blood types. Dr Ronald Gilcher, Oklahoma Blood Institute president, "When they come to the emergency room and they are bleeding to death, the first two to five units of blood given to that patient are O-negative, while the hospital attempts to type the patient."
O-negative donors will receive a special 007 t-shirts and free health screenings. Call the Oklahoma Blood Institute at 293-2760 for more information.
