Tulsa Police are hot on the trail of the suspects in Monday night's fatal shooting.
Witnesses say 47-year-old Rickie Simmons was gunned down as he sat in his SUV around 9 PM on South Jackson Street on the city's westside. News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says it looks as though Tulsa Police are closing in on the suspect or suspects.
Tuesday, they served a search warrant and seized the blue minivan they believe was used as the getaway vehicle. Witnesses say a man stood outside the victim's black Chevy Tahoe and fire several shots. They say he jumped into the passenger side of the van and took off. Simmons apparently fell out of his SUV after he was shot, and police found him partially under the vehicle.
Police say they have questioned the owner of the blue minivan. But so far, there are no suspects in custody. They're also not sure about a motive. Tulsa Police Sgt Mike Huff, "there's always a possibility of an interpersonal dispute, or maybe some sort of drug-related instant in regards to this, but we're not saying at this time because we don't have enough information."
Police say there were "two" kinds of shell casings on the ground. They think someone in the "victim's" car may have also been a shooter.
