TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Reggie Borges scored 23 of his 28 points in the second half Saturday as Oral Roberts beat Southern Utah 86-73 and stretched its home winning streak to 14.
Oral Roberts (16-6, 7-2 Mid-Continent Conference) used an onslaught of 3-pointers to jump to a 15-point halftime lead. But it was Borges coming alive on the inside and at the free-throw line that put the game away.
He sank 10-of-15 field goals, 8-of-13 free throws and added 10 rebounds for his third double-double game of the season.
Southern Utah (8-13, 3-6) never led but rallied on Al Williams' shooting to come within 3 points at 65-62 with a little more than 8 minutes remaining. But then officials called a technical on Williams, and the Thunderbirds' challenge fizzled.
Jay Collins led Southern Utah with 20 points and Williams finished with 12.
Oral Roberts made four free throws in the first 30 seconds and then built its lead on Josh Atkinson's three 3-pointers over the next five minutes.
The Thunderbirds pulled within 7 points with 8 minutes to go in the first half, but then Luke Spencer-Gardner unleashed his own 3-point attack.
A 17-7 run put Oral Roberts up by as much as 17 points and left the Golden Eagles ahead 47-32 at the half.
Atkinson finished with 19 points and Spencer-Gardner had 22.
