OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded nearly $279,000 in grants to 10 Oklahoma agencies to provide housing counseling services to low and moderate-income families.

``These services will include providing information to renters, first-time homebuyers and senior citizens in areas such as pre-purchase counseling, financial management and property maintenance,'' said Michael E. Jones, executive director of the Oklahoma Association of Community Action Agencies.

``The goal is to improve clients' housing conditions and help them meet the responsibilities of tenancy and homeownership.''

Community Action Project of Tulsa County will receive the most, $50,000, officials said. The Norman Housing Authority will get $45,908 and CCCS of Central Oklahoma Inc. in Bethany will receive $37,495.

Other organizations receiving money are:

_ Community Development Support Association in Enid, $30,000

_ Stillwater Housing Authority, $24,244

_ Housing Partners of Tulsa Inc., $27,854

_ Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma/Canadian Counties, $21,080

_ Chickasaw Nation in Ada, $19,050

_ KI BOIS Community Action Foundation of Stigler, $17,081

_ Muskogee Housing Authority, $6,191
