As the weather starts to warm up, you might decide to do some grilling outside. But, effective this week Oklahomans who use propane have some changes to face.

22 states already enforce the 'overfill protective device.' Now Oklahoma is being added to the list. The new device prevents gas leaks and other hazards. Storeowners say it's all a matter of safety. Local store owner, Wanda Batman, "If it weren't filled according to procedures and they were overfilled. That gas could expand and that would make a safety issue. And additionally if you had an old canister that wasn't in good shape, and had expanded gas inside you wouldn't want it to be hit and banged and it could cause it to explode."

Batman's Texaco on Mingo and Pine will swap out your old tank for a brand new one for about $20. If you want to attach the overfill protective device to your current tank it'll cost about $40.
