In Sapulpa, Thursday, the community held its 5th annual child abuse prevention rally. Moms, Dads and scores of professionals talked about ways to identify abuse and how the mere suspicion of it creates an obligation.
Creek County Associate District Court Judge April Sellers White, "Almost all the children who have died as result of could have been saved if someone had noticed."
Child Development Specialist, Becky Bland, "We feel children need us because they don't know any different. They don't know they're being abused. It they've grown up in that they don't know other children aren't treated the same way."
Speakers at the rally told listeners to call police immediately if they suspect a child is in danger, then call DHS. Calls reporting abuse can be anonymous.
