OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state Board of Education voted Wednesday to revoke the licenses of three teachers who have pleaded guilty to felonies.
Washington E. Jones, Woodrow L. Baughman and Jennifer Williams are now barred from teaching in the state. In addition, each will be reported to a national clearinghouse that helps states avoid certifying teachers with criminal histories.
Jones was a special education teacher at Harding Middle School in Oklahoma City when he was accused of inappropriately touching a 12-year-old student in 2000. He pleaded guilty to committing lewd acts with a child and received a 10-year prison sentence, with all but three years suspended.
Baughman, a former Drummond teacher, pleaded guilty last year to distributing controlled substances. He was given a five-year suspended sentence and was ordered to surrender his teaching certificate.
Williams pleaded guilty last year to a sexual misconduct charge in Benton County, Ark., in exchange for a five-year deferred sentence. She had a one-year teaching license in Oklahoma that has since expired.
