OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The mayor of New York could visit in April to see how the city rebuilt after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building.
Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys met with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday.
Humphreys said Bloomberg is considering a trip to Oklahoma City on April 19 _ the seventh anniversary of the bombing that killed 168.
It was the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil until Sept. 11.
``I think New York City is probably well ahead of where we were at this phase,'' Humphreys said. ``We spent most of the time talking about the site _ what do you do with a memorial? What's proper? How do you deal with the victims' families?''
Humphreys was in New York to promote his city with the media.
New York officials also are considering sending part of the steel facade from the World Trade Center to be used in an exhibit at the Oklahoma City National Memorial, Humphreys said.
The exhibit _ titled ``Shared Experience'' _ is intended to show the experiences shared by people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania because of Sept. 11 and by those in Oklahoma City because of the bombing, said Kari Watkins, executive director of the memorial.
