SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) _ A Creek County judge has ordered a man to stand trial for first-degree murder in the stabbing of a woman in Oakhurst.
David Lambert Eads, 44, was ordered held without bail Monday in the June 24 killing of Jane Lee Neafus, 55. A hunter found her remains Oct. 10 in a wooded area near Asher, about 100 miles from where the attack took place.
Jessica Sue Smith, one of Eads' alleged victims, testified Monday that he slapped, hit and kicked Neafus before he ``started chopping'' on her with a machete.
``I heard her take her last breath shortly thereafter,'' Smith said.
She suffered numerous stab wounds and spent a week in a Tulsa hospital.
Special District Judge Russell also ordered that Eads face trial for assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the attack on Smith, and unlawful removal of a dead body stemming from the transportation of Neafus' remains.
Eads' arraignment is scheduled Feb. 20 in Bristow.
