LAWTON, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State University quarterback Aso Pogi remained hospitalized Wednesday after a car accident earlier this week, hospital officials said.
Doctors at Comanche County Memorial Hospital continued to monitor Pogi as a precautionary measure because of the concussion he suffered in the accident on Monday. He was listed in fair condition.
``It is fairly standard to observe a patient for following a concussion of this nature,'' Dr. Mark Duncan, a consulting neurosurgeon. ``He is recovering well from his head injury and we expect a full recovery.''
Police believe Pogi lost control of his two-door Honda Civic and it spun across a median on U.S. 62 in Lawton and into the path of the tractor-trailer rig Monday afternoon. The truck's driver was not hurt.
Pogi suffered a deep laceration to his left hand and a concussion. He underwent surgery later that day to repair the extensor tendon in his left ring finger, hospital officials said.
Dr. Timothy Wright said the surgery ``went well,'' but that part of Pogi's healing will require him to do rehabilitation work with his hand.
Pogi attended Lawton High, where he earned All-State honors before signing with Oklahoma State University.
