The French Government says it will oppose the death penalty if Zacarias Moussaoui is convicted of terrorism. Moussaoui is a French Moroccan indicted on conspiracy charges in connection with the terrorist attacks.
France says it will offer him diplomatic support while he's on trial. US officials say it's unlikely France will have any power to influence the proceedings. Moussauoi did live in Norman, Oklahoma for a few months earlier this year. He lived in an upstairs apartment in a Norman house, and attended a Norman flight school. His indictment has neighbors talking, including Seth Busetti, "It's kind of a small world and it's kinda unfortunate that bad people come into our neighborhoods."
Moussaoui will make his first appearance in court January 3rd in New York.
