A little friendly competition is underway between Tulsa’s Police and Fire departments, and this one is bound to get a little bloody.
That's because it's the Red Cross's annual boots and badges blood drive. The departments compete against each other to see who can recruit the most blood donors. Tulsa Fire Department Capt Hubert Rouse, "One year alone we did over 400 units between both of us which is really good and figuring every unit helps three people by getting involved in this campaign." The boots and badges blood drive runs through January 31st. Their goal this year is 250 units.
The winner will be the agency with the highest percentage of donors compared with the number of employees. The fire department has won the competition for the past five years.
You can get in on the boots and badges action, as well. Just go by a Red Cross collection site, give blood, and tell them which department you'd like credited for your donation.
