JAY, Okla. (AP) _ The state Attorney General's Office has named a special prosecutor to investigate the Monkey Island airport authority.

Washington County District Attorney Rick Esser was appointed on Friday.

Last month, Delaware County District Attorney Tom May told the Attorney General's Office that he could not continue with any investigation into the Monkey Island Development Authority, the county trust in charge of the Grand Lake Regional Airport.

May recused himself, citing a conflict of interest because his wife works for former authority Chairman Mike Long.

May stated in the letter that his wife is the bookkeeper for Long & Corlett Home Builders.
