BARNSDALL, Okla. (AP) _ A 38-year-old Avant man was killed and his son was seriously injured after the pickup truck they were riding in ran off the road and flipped late Friday night, authorities said.
Bruce Smith was pinned for more than two hours and died at the scene of the crash near Barnsdall.
Smith's pickup truck slid off State Highway 11 in Osage County on a downhill curve and flipped one time into a deep ditch, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. He was ejected.
Smith's son, 12-year-old Kenny R. Smith, was taken by ambulance to a Bartlesville hospital. The boy has head, arm and leg injuries, the patrol said.
The father and son were not wearing seat belts, troopers said.
