Students at Tulsa’s McKinley Elementary got their Thanksgiving turkey early this year. "Well that won't do, I will go out and find you a turkey for Thanksgiving."
Principal Bob McKay told his students if they read 1,000 books last month he'd dress up like a turkey. They did and he did. So Wednesday he went class to class dressed as Thanksgiving dinner, reading the book 'A Turkey for Thanksgiving.'
He says the students have well surpassed his expectations. “The kids are not only reading, they're reading everyday parents are coming up to us, saying, I don't know what you've done to my child, but they're reading at home and that is truly our goal, for kids, wherever they are to pick up a book and read."
