(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Governor Keating will head a national Republican fund-raising committee.
Keating has been chosen to become chairman of GoPac, the Republican political action committee once run by former U-S House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
GoPac's goal is to elect as many Republicans as possible to Congress. It also raises contributions for G-O-P elections. Keating's main job will be to raise money for Republican candidates in next year's elections.
John Cox, Keating's press secretary, says the committee is branching out in an effort to get Republican majorities in state Legislatures.
Cox says there will be some out-of-state travel involved. He says it will be similar to when Keating served as president of the Republican Governors' Association.
