EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ A man holding onto a metal boat's windshield frame survived a lightning strike Monday during a storm that passed over Arcadia Lake.

``It was pretty miraculous really. He took a direct hit,'' said Edmond police detective Jim Turner.

Matt Hobson, 31, was standing in the boat at the Spring Creek dock about 6:30 p.m. when he was hit. Two adults and three children who were also in the boat were not hurt.

The strike blew Hobson's necklace off, leaving a ring of burn marks around his neck .

His sister, Kim Hobson, said she was told his necklace may have saved him.

Hobson had been on the lake with two adults and two children when storm warning sirens warned of an approaching storm, authorities said. He and the others apparently were trying to get off the boat when the lightning strike occurred.

Hobson was listed in fair condition at OU Medical Center Monday night.
