DEL CITY, Okla. (AP) _ A 25-year-old man arrested in New York City is accused of murdering and robbing two women at a Del City La Quinta Inn last month, authorities said Thursday.

Donald Anthony Grant is being held in a New York jail on Oklahoma County warrants for an unrelated larceny charge.

Del City police said they are asking the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office to pursue two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of robbery with a firearm against Grant.

Investigators believe Grant was living in northeast Oklahoma City and left the state after the murders of La Quinta manager Brenda McElyea, 30, and desk clerk Felecia Smith, 42.

Smith died of multiple trauma, including a gunshot wound and blunt and sharp injuries. McElyea was shot in the head.

The victims were discovered in offices at the motel July 18.

A Del City detective was interviewing Grant Wednesday night in New York, Del City police Capt. Jody Suit said.
