(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State guard Maurice Baker is on the preliminary list of 50 players being considered for the John R. Wooden Award.

Baker was an all-Big 12 player last season, when he averaged 19-point-eight points, six-point-seven rebounds and four-point-two assists per game. He led the Cowboys in shooting percentage and free throw shooting.

Baker is one of five players from the Big 12 named to the Wooden list. The others are Nick Collison and Drew Gooden of Kansas, Kareem Rush of Missouri and Chris Owens of Texas.

The 10-player Wooden Award All-America team will be announcedin March. One member of that team will be named winner of the Wooden Award on April 7th.
