FORT COFFEE, Okla. (AP) _ Strong winds destroyed at least two homes Saturday afternoon in this rural LeFlore County community, officials said.
A storm that developed near Fort Smith, Arkansas, moved into the area around 2:30 p.m., said Todd Lindley, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
Lindley said the thunderstorm collapsed around Fort Coffee, creating the winds that caused the damage.
The path of the damage was 2 miles long and a half mile wide, said Michaelann Ooten, public information officer for the Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management.
Ooten said one home and one mobile home were destroyed.
As of Saturday night, there was a report of only one person with injuries, she said.
