OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A 66-year-old woman was killed in a house fire early Tuesday, a fire department spokesman said.

Maj. Brian Stanaland said firefighters saw heavy flames coming through the roof of the rear of the home when they arrived about 4 a.m.

The firefighters found Caroly Eischeid lying in a hallway of the home and pulled her outside.

The woman's daughter, Andrea Douglass, 41, was awakened by a smoke alarm and found the fire in her mother's bedroom, then tried to pull Eischeid out of the room, Stanaland said.

Douglass left Eischeid lying in the hallway to get her 8- and 11-year-old sons out of the home. Douglass was then unable to get her mother out of the house because of the smoke, flames and heat, Stanaland said.

Douglass and her sons escaped the blaze, which heavily damaged the rear of the home and caused the roof to collapse onto Eischeid's bedroom, Stanaland said.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
