(Colmar, France-AP) -- France's Laurent Jalabert (law-RAHN' ZHAH'-lah-behr) celebrated his country's national holiday by winning the 101-mile seventh stage of the Tour de France on Bastille Day.

Two-time defending champion Lance Armstrong finished several minutes behind.

Armstrong's U-S Postal Service team was reduced to eight men today when Christian Vande Velde quit the race after crashing and injuring his arm in a downhill stretch in the mountains.

Armstrong remains in 15th place in the overall standings, almost six minutes behind overall leader Jens Voight of Germany. Fellow American Bobby Julich (JOO'-lihk) is in fourth place, four minutes, 26 seconds behind the leader.
