MORRO BAY, Calif. (AP) _ A man shot to death two people during an argument over a campsite before he was wounded by a park ranger, authorities said.

The gunman, identified by authorities as Stephen Deflaur, 42, of Blythe, was shot in the abdomen by a ranger Sunday night at Morro Strand State Park. He was expected to survive.

Stephen Wells, of San Pedro, quarreled with Deflaur over the campsite where both had parked their vehicles, San Luis Obispo County sheriff's Lt. Steve Bolts said. When Wells went to report the incident to a ranger, Deflaur allegedly shot him and his 11-year-old nephew, Jerry Rios.

Morro Bay is about 160 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
