Tulsa City Councilor Joe Williams stands by his claims of racism in the police department - an allegation made after a late night incident at his home.
Councilor Williams accused an officer of racism after dealing with her during a police call. The department says the allegation was "unfounded." But Councilor Williams is standing by his statements made in a taped 911 call - and says an internal police memo - which was leaked to the media - is filled with lies and fabrications.
Williams held a community forum yesterday afternoon - where he laid out his version of what happened - after he says an officer made an aggressive move toward him.
Joe Williams, Tulsa City Councilor: "Supposedly they pulled me away from her. They never touched me. They never touched me because they knew I went to that door. The only person they touched was that officer when she came to do something to me."
So the police department and the councilor have two versions of what happened regarding both who was threatening who - and also whether or not the councilor was drunk.
Williams says he had a few drinks but was not intoxicated. The police memo describes him so intoxicated he was hard to understand. However, councilor Williams was not cited by the police.
