(Undated-AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks say the elbow problems that have kept pitcher Todd Stottlemyre off the field this season will keep him sidelined for the rest of the year.
The Boston Red Sox say the broken elbow that catcher Jason Varitek suffered Thursday will cost him two to three months of time.
Kansas City has activated second baseman Carlos Febles from the disabled list and designated outfielder Raul Ibanez for assignment.
In Philadelphia, both baseball owners and umpires are asking a federal judge to overturn last month's arbitration ruling that ordered baseball to rehire nine of the 22 umps who lost their jobs in 1999.
