Tulsa police continue their investigation into racism allegations made by a Tulsa City Councilor. They say councilor Joe Williams made the charges after police were called to his home early Friday morning.
He is on the city Urban Development Committee, but missed a meeting they had this morning. He was out of his city council office all day yesterday - and was not in this morning.
Police want to talk with Williams - about an incident at his home Friday, where police were accused of racist behavior.
Detectives have talked with his neighbors but police say they have been unable to interview Williams.
Neighbors and police said Williams was intoxicated and screaming at officers, who were checking out a complaint that a woman had taken his wallet. The wallet was later found - and no arrests were made.
A police spokesman says they hope to wrap up their investigation today - and are waiting to release any of their findings until a complete report is ready. We've tried a number of times to reach councilor Williams, but have been unable to reach him at home, work, or here at City Hall.
