A couple from the small community of Carselowey in Craig County is turning their family's tragedy into a miracle for total strangers.
Ronnie and Melissa Powell's 12-year old son Gregory was killed last week in a shooting accident. Though overcome with grief, the Powells made a decision that's helping Gregory's spirit live on. They agreed to donate their son's organs.
Gregory's parents say they knew it was the right way to celebrate the life of a very giving boy. Gregory dreamed of becoming a volunteer firefighter, following in his father's footsteps and spending his life helping others. Ronnie Powell, "It might have been a tragedy for us, but there's others out there that needed the help". Melissa Powell, "It was a blessing to them. We were able to answer another family's prayers, to give their loved ones a chance at life."
The Powells say their son would've been proud to help others, achieving the ultimate firefighter goal.
