STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State athletic director Harry Birdwell will ask the OSU Board of Regents to extend the contract of Cowboy football coach Les Miles.
Birdwell said he won't speculate on what Miles' salary will be, but said he will ask the regents on Friday for permission to extend Miles' contract by two years and to review the terms.
Miles, 49, signed a five-year deal in December 2000, the new proposal would extend that contract to 2007.
The Cowboys won five of their final six games to end the regular season at 7-5, 5-3 in the Big 12, and become bowl eligible for the first time since 1997.
OSU upset Oklahoma for the second consecutive year and beat the Sooners, Nebraska and Texas A&M in the same season for the first time in school history.
