They don't serve hot dogs at McDonald's. But there's one dog that got a hero's welcome Tuesday.

Rex the Tulsa Police Dog was honored at a ceremony at the McDonald's on Southwest Boulevard. Rex was shot and wounded as he helped to apprehend a suspect who allegedly tried to rob the restaurant.

McDonald's also presented the department with a donation to buy "hot dog" alarms for K-9 cars. On a hot day, the alarms alert the officer and automatically roll down the windows if the air conditioning goes out while the dog is in the car.
