A McCurtain County District Court judge has extended a restraining order on the cockfighting issue.

The judge says law officers in McCurtain, Choctaw and Pushmataha Counties cannot enforce State Question 687.

It was standing room only Monday morning in an Idabel courtroom as the judge heard arguments about whether to continue the temporary restraining order which halted the cockfighting ban in the three counties.

Voters passed State Question 687 earlier this month by 56% of the vote.

In a separate filing, another district court judge has also issued an injunction in Muskogee, Sequoyah and Adair counties.
