(Austin-AP) -- Texas coach Mack Brown says the Longhorns' close call with Oklahoma State will help next week against the Sooners.
Texas breezed through four blowouts before meeting some resistance from the Cowboys. Texas came out on top 17-to-15.
Brown says every team needs some testing and this will make his Longhorns pay more attention.
Texas had more yards on offense and forced three turnovers. But penalties and missed field goals helped make Oklahoma State's late drive a real threat.
Texas Quarterback Chris Simms says the Longhorns did shoot themselves in the foot several times. Longhorn Cedric Benson says he thought for a minute the game was lost.
