Friday was a big night for Robby Guilfoyle.

Since he was a boy, he's looked forward to his senior year of football. To be alongside his teamates, in front of the crowd.

As News on Six's Craig Day found out, for Robby, it's an amazing accomplishment to even be on this field with his builldog teamates.

During practice nine months ago, Robby became severely dehydrated and collapsed on the football field doing wind sprints.

He suffered a massive stroke paralyzing his right side. But Robby is a fighter. Although still mostly unable to talk, he has regained much of his movement. He's also back in school.

Through the seemingly endless hours of physical therapy during the down times, through it all the Guilfoyle's weren't alone during Robby's recovery. Dozens of people gave plasma to use in Robby's treatment. Dozens more offered their words of encouragement and prayer.

Many of those same friends and neighbors turned out Friday to see Robby's jersey retired. An honor not many high school athletes receive. Not many are like number 88.

It will take more heart, desire and determination in the months and years ahead, but for now Robby Guilfoyle is just enjoying the moment with his parents, friends, and fans.
