3,627 children were victims of abuse or neglect in Oklahoma last year. 1,428 of those kids were in Tulsa County. 38 children died, five in Tulsa County.
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services says the majority of children killed last year were white boys under the age of one. The most common type of death was smothering, often when the child was sleeping in a bed with a parent.
